Concerto Trio da Kali
On Saturday the 1st of July, the Sala degli Arazzi of Fondazione Giorgio Cini will host a concert of Trio da Kali, oraganised by the Istituto Interculturale di Studi Musicali Comparati in partnership with Aga Trust for Culture Music Initiative.
The group, created in 2012, is made up of Malian musicians, descended from important family dynasties of griot namely figures we may compare with the European courts troubadours. The Trio performed in important festivals and institutions, developing partnerships at an international level as well as television productions.
The singer, Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté, tha master of balafon (xylophone typical of Western Africa) and Trio conductor, Lassana Diabaté, and the ngoni player (African lute), Mamadou Kouyaté enhance, through their music, ancient and forgotten griot repertoires, making them commuicate with contemporary music, in a continuous dialogue between past and present.
The entrance to the concert is free until seats are exhausted.
